Subject: Woody plants of the Asian part of Russia in the wild and under cultivation.
Main lines of the activity:
- 1. Study of natural populations of woody plants of the Asian part of Russia and adjacent areas;
- 2. Primary introduction of woody plant species and forms, including spontaneous hybrids and valuable intraspecific forms in CSBG, SB RAS and its branches;
- 3. Introduction of species, forms, cultivars and hybrids of woody plants in urban conditions and dynamics of their status in urbanized regions of Siberia.
The arboretum collection contains 690 species, hybrids and forms of woody plants introduced in South Siberia. Polymorphism of the natural populations of the main species of woody plants of Siberia and the Russian Far East has been studied. The monographs of I. Yu. Koropachinskiy and
T. N. Vstovskaya “Woody plants of the Asian part of Russia (in the wild and under cultivation)” and “Guide to identification of local and exotic woody plants introduced in Siberia” have been published. An assortment of woody plant species for amenity planting in Novosibirsk and in the regions of West Siberia with similar climate has been compiled.
