Laboratory of Systematics of Higher Vascular Plants
Subject: Taxonomic and spatial diversity of Siberian vascular plants.
Main lines of research:
- Taxonomic and spatial diversity of Siberian vascular plants;
- Genesis of flora of Siberia and its separate areas;
- Systematics and phylogeny of polymorphic genera and families;
- Development of new methods and approaches in systematics and phylogeny of plants (structural analysis and logical modelling of phylogeny), comparative floristics (quantitative methods of estimates of the biodiversity and taxonomic spectra);
- Creation of electronic collections in Internet, subject-based databases on certain genera and families.
Taxonomic and spatial diversity of Siberian vascular plants has been determined within the framework of the project “Flora of Siberia”. A genesis of Central Siberian flora, systematics and phylogeny of the families Boraginaceae, Euphorbiaceae and Gentianaceae have been studied. A method of phylogenetic analysis SYNAP has been developed.
