Subject: Flora of Siberia.
Main lines of the activity:
- Study of the Siberian flora (origin, chorology and systematics);
- Collection, storage, exchange and scientific treatment of herbarium specimens;
- Karyological screening of the Siberian flora plants;
- Exchange of seeds with botanical establishments of the Russian Federation and foreign countries;
- Computer processing of botanical information;
- Introduction of wild plants.
Scientists of the Laboratory took part in compiling “Flora of Siberia” (volumes 1-13). Regional Guides to Identification of Plants and Red Data Books for the south of Siberia were published. In herbarium (NS) there are more than 300.000 dried plant specimens from different areas of the world. Siberian plants (about 200.000) make up the bulk of the collection.
