Objects of study:
- Study of the diversity of plant communities, their structure and spatial organization, ecology and response to anthropogenic effects;
- Study of the history of formation of the plant cover and a forecast of its development;
- Rational use and conservation of the plant cover.
Large-scale geobotanical maps of a range of key testing sites, medium-scale maps of the Altai, Tuva, Khakasia, Novosibirsk and Kemerovo Oblasts and small-scale maps of West Siberia have been made. Recommendations on rational use of rangelands have been compiled. A monographical summary of rare plant communities and those in need of conservation in Siberia has been made up. A scientific substantiation of the criteria for identification of plant communities in need of conservation has been given.
